V&A Waterfront

The Watershed is the most talked about shopping experience in Cape Town. Not just because the open-air street market vibe is so trendy, but because everything you find here is locally made. Enter for free and browse the incredible selection of craft, jewellery, homeware and fashion, much of which is designed and made in Cape Town. Once you’ve had your shopping fill, head upstairs to Wellness at Watershed for a pampering massage or treatment.

Spa Day at the Vineyard Hotel & Spa

Shopping can be hard work! Take time for yourself and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the Angsana Spa at the Vineyard Hotel. A sanctuary set on the slopes of Table Mountain, it’s a feast for the eyes. But you’re here for the body, and the spa offers several treatment packages that fuse calm-inducing techniques from the East and West. End a day of pampering with a stroll through the gardens before indulging in Lady Anne’s Afternoon Tea at the hotel’s garden lounge.

Imiso Ceramics

Imiso Ceramics is an up-market design studio and gallery in Woodstock that offers visitors a free glimpse at hand-crafted clay design. Each piece is made in Cape Town using inspiration from traditional African techniques. Their signature works include striking ornamental vases and statement tableware. From exhibiting in New York City to featuring at the local design galleries, Imiso Ceramics is garnering a serious reputation amongst collectors. This is your chance to scoop up one of their stunning pieces.

Bree Street, CBD

No shopping trip in Cape Town is complete without a little luxury. Get the highest end, hand-crafted décor at the Avoova showroom on Bree Street. Their entire collection is free to view, and centres on exotic design using ostrich eggshell. Hundreds of thousands of pieces of shell make up each design piece, which is individually made by skilled craftsman. Whether it’s jewellery, photo frames, furniture or any of their other designs, you know you’re getting something truly special here.

South African Market (SAM)

Bree Street, CBD

There are so many new and up-and-coming designers in Cape Town, they need a hub unto themselves. Enter the South African Market, or SAM as it’s known. A free, market-style showroom of local talent, you’ll find everything from fashion to jewellery, homewares, stationary and more. Housed on Bree Street, SAM couldn’t have a more popular address. Don’t miss their shop tucked away on the floor above the popular La Parada Tapas Bar.

The Diamond Works

Update your winter wardrobe with something sparkly. Pre-book a tour at the Diamond Works and you’ll not only learn about the fascinating world of diamonds, but also get to view a replica of the famous Cullinan diamond. Watch the experts at work - from diamond cutting to jewellery crafting and marvel at the beauty of the tanzanite, a gem said to be rarer than the diamond. Enjoy a glass of bubbles while shopping for gold, platinum, diamonds or tanzanite in their impressive showroom.
