Cape Town Boat Show

V&A Waterfront

Do you have visions of an adventure on the sea with you as the captain and a crew of mates? Then set sail for the Cape Town International Boat Show. Held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) and the V&A Waterfront, you can learn how to pick the right boat at the speaker series, book a holiday cruise or sail along the expo floor and pick up all your outdoor water activity paraphernalia.

Watch Rugby SA v. NZ

There’s no bigger rugby rivalry than South Africa versus New Zealand. Catch the big game on Saturday at Jerry’s Burger Bar. Located in the heart of vibey ‘Obs’, this edgy diner pays homage to Norman Collins (aka Sailor Jerry), the founder of modern-day tattooing. Tuck into their signature juicy burgers topped with delicious combinations, like the sticky Jack Daniels sauce with caramelised onions and bacon. Wash it down with one of the local craft brews on offer.

Quad biking

SA Forest Adventures takes you on a half-day high-speed quad bike adventure in the Cape’s Caledon region. On either a 9km or 12km trail, the tour offers a glimpse of the springtime flora and fauna and views of the countryside. Once you’ve got the hang of it, test your speed on the fast track section and see who amongst your crew has the fastest wheels.

Kitesurfing Lessons

Salt River

Rent a kite from High Five and sign up for high-flying kitesurfing lessons. The beginners course will give you a taste for it, but set aside more lesson time if you and your mates want something more hardcore under the guidance of a qualified trainer. No wind? Opt for SUP-íng at an ideal location on the West Coast and you could find yourself surrounded by a pod of dolphins.

Surf’s up

Listed on National Geographic’s World's 20 Best Surf Towns, Muizenberg is a surfer’s paradise. The water here is warmer than other Cape beaches, and the waves gentler, making it a perfect spot for the beginners and the experienced surfers in your crew. Board rentals and lessons can be organised on the beach front. Gary’s Surf School is a favourite, and rumoured to be one of South Africa’s oldest surf school.

Target Shooting

There’s nothing like a little friendly competition between the guys to boost the ego. Take aim at Shootopia where you can shoot a variety of handguns and shotguns such as the Glock, Colt .45, 12-gauge pump action, .357 Magnum and many more. Winner takes the bragging rights and the losers buy the first round at the Shootopia bar.
