Whiskey Tasting at Bascule Bar

Cape Grace Hotel

The Bascule Bar is a hidden gem tucked away at the classic Cape Grace Hotel at the V&A Waterfront. The compact and luxurious bar in wood and facebrick makes for the perfect atmosphere to indulge in your favourite tipple, especially whiskey. Whether you prefer a full-bodied smoky single malt or a more fruity or spicy blend or a light floral character, with more than 500 whiskies to choose from you are bound to find your perfect match. The Glenfiddich 50-year-old goes at R18 000 a tot… unsurprisingly after 15 years in business Bascule is still only on bottle number two. Treat yourself to a tasting of six different whiskies, three of which are paired with sweet and savoury appetizers.

Lunch or dinner cruise

V&A Waterfront

Escape the hustle and bustle of the Mother City with a moment of quiet to enjoy the spectacular setting from aboard a yacht. Sip a glass of bubbly as the boat breezes across the bay offering up unmatched vistas of Table Mountain, Lions Head and Signal Hill and the city at its base as Tigger2 cruise along the coastline. Then either drop anchor in front of Clifton 4th beach or Granger Bay – if the weather and ocean conditions aren't suitable, return to the mooring at the V & A Marina – to relax and enjoy lunch aboard. You can also opt for a dinner package, which will allow you to marvel at the sunset from the deck before sitting down for a gourmet experience.

Winelands Hot Air Ballooning

The early morning wake-up call will be worth the magical experience of silently floating over the landscape of the Cape Winelands at sunrise. If the weather conditions play along, you will depart from Grande Roche for an hour-long flight over the Paarl Winelands landscape surveying majestic mountains, beautiful vineyards and dams and fields. Once you come back down to earth you can sit down to an equally heavenly breakfast at the five-star Paarl hotel, Grande Roche.

Afternoon tea

Located on Church Street in the charming Winelands town of Stellenbosch just 40 minutes’ drive from Cape Town is The Oude Werf Hotel said to be the oldest hotel in South Africa. The hotel is situated on the site of its first church, built in 1687 and destroyed by fire in 1710. On this ‘old churchyard’ would rise the Cape Dutch-style Wium’s Inn, the two-storey Arcadia and, in the 20th century, after much rebuilding, Oude Werf Hotel, as it stands today. Since 1802 it has welcomed guests from statesmen and artists to explorers, the university’s first female graduates and even the odd ghost. Indulge in a slice of this remarkable heritage while enjoying an old-style Afternoon Tea with a spread of glorious cakes including their legendary cheesecake.

Champagne tasting

Cullinan Hotel

A well-known landmark in the Cape Town CBD, Southern Sun The Cullinan brings guests all the luxury that is expected of an award-winning hotel from Tsogo Sun. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city – within easy reach of the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town International Convention Centre, Long Street and many other attractions. You can either stay at the hotel to experience the luxury first-hand or you can spend the evening sipping champagne or top local MCC with their special champagne tasting at the new Stella Bar.
