Join the chefs of The Planet restaurant at the Mount Nelson Hotel as they open their kitchen and show you what goes on behind the scenes. Under executive chef Rudi Liebenberg, the team prepares dishes with seasonal and local ingredients as you watch them work from an alcove above. Take the opportunity to discuss their recipes, inspiration and tips and tricks of the trade. Finish the experience by tucking into their signature creations and enjoying the fruits of their labours. Wine & olive oil tasting at Morgenster

Morgenster Estate

Morgenster Wine and Olive Oil Estate has nabbed the best olive oil award for seven years in a row, so you know they’re doing something right. Just 30 minutes from Cape Town, this experience is well worth the trip to overlook the view of the Helderberg Mountains from the tasting room. Sommeliers will guide you through the estate’s homemade olive oils, along with glasses of their award-winning wines. Don’t miss a glass of the highly regarded Bordeaux blend!

Chef's Warehouse

Bree Street, CBD

Award-winning chef Liam Tomlin has made culinary waves around the world, but his Cape Town eatery, Chef’s Warehouse, is the best yet. Dishes are served as large platters of light bites, which taste like plates from a Michelin starred restaurant. But don’t expect the high-end frills, this is a laid back affair. The focus is on fresh, seasonal ingredients and the menu changes daily. Lunch is the best option here, so you can soak up the vibe from bustling Bree Street.

Taste Treats at Root 44

A free-to-enter market, Root 44 is an all-weather setting for good food, great drinks, lively music, crafts and delicious goodies to pop in your basket. Find it on R44 between Somerset West and Stellenbosch, where it’s marked by the giant strawberry. Inside, stalls tempt you with tasty treats of South African fare from traditional roosterkoek to spicy curries, great craft beer and delicious wines. If you have a small group, book the tree house where you’ll have a perfect spot to picnic on your purchases.

Champagne Brunch at the Potluck Club

Sunday brunch at Pot Luck Club, established by award-winning chef Luke Dale-Roberts, is a special affair. Renowned for his collection of creative dishes, you’ll be served with platters to share around the table. Next to your glass of bottomless bubbles, expect out-of-the-box renditions of mushrooms on toast with pancetta, smoked salmon and horseradish cannelloni and sugary churros.
