Picnic at Cape Point Vineyards

Cape Peninsula

Why not take a leisurely morning drive along the scenic Atlantic coast line via Chapman’s Peak to Cape Point Nature Reserve with your boo? Once you’ve visited the most south-westerly point of the continent, head over to Cape Point Vineyard for lunch. The spectacular wine estate is the only one of its kind, situated in the Cape Peninsula with the unique terroir and climate resulting in premium wines, particularly award-winning Sauvignon Blanc. Order a sumptuous picnic basket from the deli (must be booked 24 hours in advance) and drink in the beautiful surroundings or just gaze into your lover’s eyes. A picnic basket for two costs R395. Vegetarian, snack and kiddies baskets are also available.

City Sightseeing

City Sightseeing’s hop-on hop-off bus tour is undoubtedly one of the most fun ways to go sightseeing in the Mother City. Choose between the Red, Blue Yellow or Purple routes, which take you through the inner city, out to the Peninsula or down town Cape Town or the Constantia wine route respectively. Grab your sweetheart’s hand and find a seat on the top open deck to watch the beautiful scenery fly past as you crisscross the city’s historic, cultural and natural sights. Sit back as the audio guide tells you more about new and familiar places. Then, hop off at one of the many stops to explore at your leisure before hopping back on to go the next spot. This is sure to be a memorable day trip for two. A one-day ticket costs R180 per person.

Sleepy Hollow Horse Riding

There is something singularly dreamy about the idea of galloping off into the sunset on horseback, with the wind in your hair, and your loved one by your side. It is the stuff of fairy tales! Now you can live the fantasy on the breathtakingly beautiful Noordhoek beach, which stretches all the way from the base of Chapman’s Peak to Kommetjie. Sleepy Hollow Horse Riding will provide you with horse and gear as well as experienced guides. End your outing at the Noordhoek Farm Village where you can have a romantic dinner at one of the lovely restaurants or delicatessens. Age limit: 12 years to 65 years of age.

Dinner at Vergelegen Wine Estate

Somerset West

Nothing says romance better than an intimate candle-lit dinner for two. Camphors at the historic Vergelegen Wine Estate is a hidden gem. The fine dining restaurant, named for the famous camphor trees planted by Simon van der Stel, is just the elegant setting for your special night. Treat your special someone to a five-course tasting with wine pairing for R795 per person.

Dining at Grand Beach Café

Granger Bay

End off the ultimate romantic weekend with a cocktail in hand and your toes in the sand at the Grand Café and Beach. Set within a restored warehouse and positioned on a private beach in Granger Bay, Grand Café & Beach is part of Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront and looks out over Table Bay with the Green Point Stadium, Signal Hill and Table Mountain forming a dramatic backdrop. The Café has a relaxed, yet chic atmosphere and offers up a delectable menu of classic, fresh food. Reserve a spot on the wooden deck for dreamy al fresco dining.
