Robertson Wine on the River

This is partying at a different pace. No pumping music and massive crowds, but rather a genteel get-together on the banks of the Breede River. The Robertson Wine on the River festival gathers at the Goudmyn Farm between Robertson and Bonnievale, where you will enjoy the river flowing by and vineyards all round. Add live music, plenty of wines to taste, picnic lunches and local produce and you’ve got an unforgettable spring festival.

The Village Idiot

Loop Street, CBD

English pub meets rustic chic in this casual neighbourhood hangout on the Loop Street strip. The Village Idiot, presided over by a stuffed ostrich named Oskar perched on the bar, is just the place to kick back and have a frosty craft beer or a classic cocktail. People watch on the balcony or play a round of pool. On the menu is yummy South African fare. Order a braai board served with chakalaka and freshly baked roosterkoek, try a boerewors burger or even a potjie.

Dancing at Jade Lounge

Green Point

It’s time to hit the town! Get dressed to the nines and head to the super chic Jade Lounge in Green Point. A swanky champagne bar, Jade has a certain savoir faire that brings together the sophistication of a Jazz bar with the energy and vibe of a classy nightclub. Here, stylish revellers sip bubbly and dance to the beats of hip hop and R&B, Afrobeat, soul and some funk depending on who’s in the DJ booth. NOTE: No under 23s allowed.

Sundowners at Tjing Tjing

Longmarket Street, CBD

Part rooftop, part attic, Tjing Tjing is the kind of place where sundowners turn into an all-night affair. Housed in a restored 200-year-old heritage building, you get cityscape views paired with sleek lounge-like décor. The bar boasts a stellar cocktail list, as well as local wines and craft beers. Paired with tapas and an indie and electronica playlist, this is a favourite for after-work drinks or a night out.

Orphanage Cocktail Bar

Bree Street, CBD

Begin the next round at Orphanage Cocktail Emporium, where artisan cocktails, elixirs and intoxications await. Try Oliver’s Twist a chamomile-infused vermouth combined with vodka, apricot liqueur and orange, served with a twist. For the daring, there’s Brimstone & Fire, a flaming cocktail designed as homage to the mixologist Jerry Thomas. There is a DJ in residence in the parlour and the newly opened dining room means you can stay for supper.

Brunch Sidewalk Café

You’re going to need some hearty fuel to keep the good times going. Visit Sidewalk Café in Vredehoek for their soul warming home cooking and morning-after fare. It’s a laid back vibe, with views of Table Mountain and harbour and an outdoor seating area. Go for broke with the 'wicked classic breakfast stack', or save up for tonight’s revelries and choose the 'really cheap breakfast’.
